Such a word! “Those in need” sounds very dramatic, while “I need you” is intense but a lot more open in regard to its meaning. We can need big and small, urgent or hypothetical, provable or imaginary. Often, a “need” is really a wish. And often, a wish is too polite and does reveal a need. One thing is for sure: anyone who expresses a need for themselves, hope for a change.
